Everything from Kim Salmon deserves a listen. From his early (and highly influential) days with the Scientists up to now. Just about all his stuff is gold: early singles ('Frantic Romantic', 'Last Nite'), early albums ('Pink Album', Blood Red River'), Beasts of Bourbon material, solo and the long lost classic 'Rubber Never Sleeps (cassette only gig giveaway but re-released in 2012 by Bang Records). Then there are the oddities with Antenna, Mudhoney, Salmon (aka Rock Formations), Ron Peno (Darling Downs) ... the list is endless. So, where do we start? Well, this EP is my fave. It features the song from the Beasts, 'Something To Lean On' - Absolute Killer.

This release is available from Kim Salmon's Bandcamp page (www.kimsalmon.bandcamp.com) for $4. Help a brother out and buy direct from the guy who made the record and wrote the songs. Stop giving away other people's music for free. Sheesh.
ReplyDeleteThe aim of this blog is to give people a taste. Many have not heard ANY of his stuff. This EP is as good an intro as any. No doubt about it - listeners will then go out and buy this then get all the rest. Consider it another way - I heard the Scientists first courtesy of a friends tape recording - have bought EVERY thing since. Sheesh.
