The Assassins - Assassination 7''

Early Aussie Punk from 1983. Greasy Pop records release - so they're from Adelaide. Ian List on vocals, he was also in The Dagoes. Must blog some of their stuff too. Essential.

International Exiles - Let's Be Sophisticated 7''

Missing Link records released this - needless to say, very few took up the invite to become more sophisticated.

Phew. Roger missed that email.

Tch Tch Tch split with Man & Machine - Split Single (Pop Art & The Bath)

Release from 1979. Tch Tch Tch (pronounced with three clicks) were what we would call experimental. Avant Garde. New Wave.... For many this translate into bleeps and bloops or artists that can't play their instruments. But I'm here not to pass judgement - just to say it existed and was a part of what I call Aussie Punk.

As for Eric Gradman and Man & Machine, well I'm certainly a fan of their music. Very much a part of that unique Aussie Punk sound. Released under Crystal Ballroom Records as a split single.

The Tellers - Flex

What a great album. Released in 1992 it's pure rock n roll. Brisbane band that featured the actor Damien Garvey. Now VERY hard to find and you'll find little or no reference to this band on the net. This blog entry aims to right that wrong.

The Tellers - Limited Movement

Second (and last) album, released in 1993. Around this time they also released the single 'One Brick At A Time' - but I do not have this. Obviously if someone out there is prepared to share the mp3 files, this would be much appreciated.

Damien Garvey hit the bigtime later with his acting career in 'Rake' and 'Jack Irish'.

Flying Calvittos - Goodbye You Spaghetti Punks EP

Classic Aussie Punk from 1979 but very few related to it on release. It was only those in the know that snapped it up - most probably the masses thought it was ethnic/world music or a joke single. How wrong they were. I can recall at the time thinking it was a bit odd but many said it was worth a listen. I did. I bought. It good. Very good.

Flying Calvittos - 26 Hundred Moons

Don't have. Sorry, but this is a request to anyone out there wanting to share the mp3's. Only 500 CD's made so it's way gone. It contains the tracks from the EP plus extras they did later on. Much later on.

Please help - I don't care whatever format. Uh oh, stop the press. Found it. On Discogs. Whooo Hoooo.

The bad news is, the chase was much better than the listening. I did not enjoy any of the tracks here outside of the original EP. This is a big WTF moment. However, at least we have it now and you can make your own judgement call.

Invader - Don't Blame It On Me 7''

Rare (often described as 'super rare') Aussie Punk from1982. This sells anywhere between $500-1,000. What's it like you ask - well, .... Aussie Punk. Dirty rock n' roll.

Sweet Jayne - Self Titled (aka Ambigious Dirl) 7''

Sweet Jayne were a rock band - first and foremost. They played live regularly (700 plus gigs over 6 years). Original material was written by Chris Scheri and Cris Bonacci.

The first lineup (1977) were Cris Bonacci, Chris Scheri, Robyn Clarke and Sally Zylstra. Chris was on lead vocals and flute! Cris lead guitar. Male musicians John Zaffarese, Brendan O'Shea, Fab Versace and Billy George joined when Zylstra and Clarke left. The band split in 1983 after Mike Oldfield saw the band play live in Sydney and offered Chris and Cris airfares to London to work with him in the UK. The band released this 7'' single after winning the Yamaha Australasian Battle of the Bands in 1978.

There is also a cassette floating around with three songs ('Something To Believe In', 'Captives and 'Going Down'). I do not have this but drop dead keen to get the mp3's. Can anyone help out - please?

Sweet Jayne - Icarus 7''

This single was release in 1981 but the band split in '83 after Mike Oldfield saw the band play live in Sydney and offered Chris and Cris airfares to London to work with him in the UK.

Cris Bonacci joined Girlschool in 1985 and toured and recorded with the band for 10 years. She toured America with Deep Purple and Blue Oyster Cult and played guitar for Robert Plant. She also worked with Toyah Wilcox and Marc Almond and was manager and musical director for Samantha Fox for several years. Chris Scheri set up Recording Studio 7 in South Melbourne in 1986.

Pupils Of Love - Rock 'N' Roll 7''

1986 (could be 1987) release. Limited to 500. Belated Aussie punk (surprise, surprise). This has more of a late 70's feel to it, despite being mid 80's.

Discogs has one more 7'' after this listed (Move It/In Love). However, I have seen references to still one more single released in 1992 ('Walk On The Wild Side'). Do not have this 'un - can anyone help out?

The Mansons - I Died Four Times 7''

Aussie Punk! Most would not make the link with this band being from the land downunda. Ol' Charlie was, after all, a true blue US of A. On top of that, the band members adopted the Manson surname (kinda like the Ramones). They also make reference to a 'Crawdad' - I have never heard of a Crayfish in Australia being referred to as a Crawdad.

Odd. Very odd.

World War XXIV - Azaria 7''

Aussie Punk from 1983, obviously referencing the 'mysterious' disappearance of baby Azaria Chamberlain at Ayers Rock (aka Uluru). A dingo took Azaria from a camping tent but her remains have never been found. The mother (Lindy) was charged with murder, later released after a retrial. Tragic. You'd probably have more luck finding this single - but I doubt it.

Zorros - Too Young 7''

Too young indeed. Having said that, I'm enjoying this dose of Aussie Punk from 1981 more and more. Timeless.

Released on AuGoGo records (Melbourne). The output from this label should not be understated. It was a sad day when they closed their doors.
