Kiss My Poodles Donkey - New Hope For The Dead

Kiss my what?  Should this be on the Weird and Wacky blog?  Perhaps, but the truth of the matter is that this is a mighty album.  Big crunchy wired and wasted sound.  They were one of those Aussie punk bands that few seemed to know much about.  However (a little like the Velvet Underground) those that experienced 'The Donkey' were affected (should that read 'assaulted'?).  This was a CeeDee release but is not all that easy to find now.  Hopefully it will not be lost in time - it deserves to be heard at 11.

Psycho Surgeons - Horizontal Action 7''

Ultra rare Aussie punk single.  You will find it hard to get an original copy of this so a download will have to make do,  What makes this worthy of a blog?  The cover ... all the sleeves were laid out on the floor and pigs blood was plashed about.  Unusual.  Here's an idea - get the jpeg image on a T-Shirt.  It looks great.

Kim Salmon & The Surrealists - Non-Stop Action Groove EP

Everything from Kim Salmon deserves a listen.  From his early (and highly influential) days with the Scientists up to now.  Just about all his stuff is gold: early singles ('Frantic Romantic', 'Last Nite'), early albums ('Pink Album', Blood Red River'), Beasts of Bourbon material, solo and the long lost classic 'Rubber Never Sleeps (cassette only gig giveaway but re-released in 2012 by Bang Records).  Then there are the oddities with Antenna, Mudhoney, Salmon (aka Rock Formations), Ron Peno (Darling Downs) ... the list is endless.  So, where do we start?  Well, this EP is my fave.  It features the song from the Beasts, 'Something To Lean On' - Absolute Killer.

German Humour - Dutch Courage (Cassette)

If you go by the name - this release should appear on Mr Weird and Wacky (geddit - 'German' & 'Humour' - is this an oxymoron).  Don't be fooled 'tho - these Perth rocksters deserve a release proper.  Heavy bass sound dominates (they're a three piece) and grabs you like early Cure.  The quality is quite good and will leave you wondering.  By the way, the 'Play Loud' instruction on the cover is good advice.
