The Nauts - Self Titled

From the ashes of Supernaut this outfit emerged in 1978.  Inventively dropping 'Super' to come up with their band name but no one knew about it (nor cared).  That wasn't the case with their former band - everyone wanted a piece of them (especially the young teenybopper girls).  Realising they were in a musical rut the band members ventured forth with this incarnation.  It must be downright frustrating 'cos this superior release fell on deaf ears.

The Black Diamonds - Singles

Could this be the greatest punk band of all time?  This Aussie group from the 60's only released two singles but boy oh boy .... crunch, bang - total devastation.  I'm not the only one to rate them so high - you'll probably do the same.

Boris Sujdovic - Desperate Girl

Boris has a CV as long as your arm - notably time with The Scientists, Rockets, Dubrovniks, Beasts of Bourbon etc.  This album is absolutely infectious and features a 'guitar side' and 'bass side'.  That's odd but not really with Boris!  He's a rock solid bass player and his solo outing have been mixed.  This LP only release will end up on continuous rotation - enjoy then get all his other releases (at least they're easier to find).

The Numbers - Sunset Strip 7''

Hailing from Brisbane (Queensland), The Numbers caught everyone's attention in 1978.  Then (after this single) ... nothing.  They morphed into the Riptides and hit paydirt (of sorts).  But this first single is essential.  Pure gold.

Radio Birdman - Burn My Eye EP

More Aussie greatness (the cover sez it all).  So many fond memories of this release from 1976.  Hey - here we are in 2014 and Radio Birdman are doing a re-union tour.  They have re-ished all their stuff in a box set.  Just get it - but listen to this (their first recorded output) first.

The Saints - (I'm) Stranded 7''

Could this be the greatest punk single of all time?  Released in 1976, many critics at the time thought it was.  Either way, it's probably my favourite.  Well done Brisbane (Queensland, Australia).

Babeez - Nobody Wants Me 7''

Well now - what's that in the rubbish bin?  Pretty gruesome really but this Aussie punk band released the single with every intent to shock and rock.  The single is 'Nobody Wants Me' so I guess the cover now makes sense.  The other tracks are 'Hate' & 'Dowanna Love'.  So, that makes the cover appropriate!  Think about it.  This blog entry also appears in Mr Weird & Wacky .
