I'll be posting heaps of Aussie punk singles over the next few weeks. Have had a lot of requests. Since this makes up the bulk of my music collection and is my main area of interest (Mr Weird and Wacky is not No 1, believe it or not), I'm more than happy to oblige. You just can't get this stuff anymore, even if it means thousand dollar amounts on eBay.
This release (one and only) came out in 1979. Released on Doublethink records (thru EMI, Sydney based) - this is the label started up by The Thought Criminals. Mighty band. Remind me - I must blog their early ridiculously hard to get singles.

Microfilm - Centrefold 7''
Aussie punk single from 1979. Released by Missing Link records from Melbourne. Now defunct (boo hoo). Great label, not unlike AuGoGo.
Lisa Gerrard was the 'famous' member. She went on to form Dead Can Dance with Brendan Perry but I remember her most from her work with Klaus Schulze. Her other project are too many to mention here. Gordon Pitts was the other member - his work not as well known. I can tell you this though, he was a member of John Justin and The Thunderwigs and did some work with Andrew Duffield and Billy Miller (in the Spaniards and Motivators).

The Cure - 1982 Paris Pornography Tour (Remastered)
I'm a bit of a Cure tragic, especially their first 4 albums. This was recorded during the Pornography tour in '82.

Rose Tattoo - Rare Blooms (1978-82)
Rose Tattoo were such a good band in the beginning. This compilation zeroes in on that period. Good choice.
You may also want their single 'Bad Boy For Love'. Of course.

Mighty Kong - All I Wanna Do Is Rock
Kind of an Aussie 1972 supergroup that morphed out of Daddy Cool (they had a big hit with 'Eagle Rock'). Main players were Ross Wilson and Ross Hannaford. Despite getting many ooh-ahhs from critics and the public - things never really took off. Perhaps this Weird and Wacky cover gives an inkling. It's just .... how do you put it ....
Ah, dunno. Cover is darn funny tho.

Billy Thorpe & The Aztecs - More Arse Than Class
Aussie classic rock n' roll. The cover has a 'leathery' feel, sort of. That was an attraction when I first bought this - but it was the hard drivin' RnR that hooked me. It still stands the test of time.

Kim Salmon - Wall/Paper
22 minutes of electronic doodling that Kim Salmon (of Scientists/Surrealists/Cheap Nasties/Beasts of Bourbon fame) recorded for a theatrical production in 2004. I didn't see the actual production but spent some time chasing this down. Being a Salmon completist that made sense to me. As per usual, the chase was fun. Not the music though (let's just call this 'experimental'). Give me the 'Last Night' & 'Frantic Romantic' EP's any day. Throw in the 'Pink Album' and I'm in heaven.
The label was Ecstatic Heaven (in case you're wondering).
