Dutch garage rock at it's finest. If the world was a fair place, these guys would be having hits left, right and center. But it ain't ... they are essentially unknown. The cover is a dead giveaway of what lies inside - jam packed with pure adrenalin. You need to hear these guys then go out and spread the word.
BTW - they were previously 'The Kliek'. Note to self - must also blog their stuff.

The End - Self Titled Cassette (+ Single)
The End were a punk institution in Brisbane (Queensland) in the late 70's / early 80's featuring Brett Myers (who later went on to form Died Pretty). This release was put out by Hot Records and MUST be released on CeeDee someday! This download also contains the 7'' single (My Confession/White World) - legendary stuff.

Plagal Grind - Self Titled Mini-LP
I've got a real soft spot for anything from Alastair Galbraith (Kiwi Popster) and this sits on top of his output in my mind. Is it still available - course not. Is it different - you better believe it. This is totally unique, nothing out there is like this. The cover art instantly tells the listener that what awaits is mind-bending - highly recommended.

Murder Punk - Vol 1 & 2
I've yet to find a better punk rock compilation than this. It's a bootleg with a dubious and somewhat tasteless background. Titled 'Murder Punk', it has an address for Martin Bryant (Port Arthur, Tasmania). That's kinda weird - he is one of Australia's most notorious mass murderers.
Once you get past this and look at the tracks inside - it's hard to dispute the tag of 'best ever punk' compilation. Being a quality bootleg (the sound of cooking bacon is intact) and containing some very hard to get singles makes this compilation entirely essential.

The Rockets (Aus) - Single and Cassette
The cassette only release from The Rockets filtered out when this Perth band called it quits (Feb 1983?). Never seen it released anywhere (nor on the net for that matter). The band were very big in Perth and everyone knew about their cover of 'Rockaway Beach'.
They featured Roddy Ray'da and Boris Sudjovic (Scientists, Cheap Nasties etc) - highly regarded dudes. The lead singer (Alan Stewart) had a bulk unique voice and the guitarist (Peter Johnson) was darn powerful.
They also released a single 'Mean Mistress/Little Donna' (included here) - the A Side is pretty well much one of my favorite singles of all time (big call - it's really that good!). Have also included the track 'Automatic' from the compilation LP 'West' (put out by local radio station 6PR).
Also in the can could be some live bootlegs if I get my act together. By the by, there is also a VHS live concert floating around that's worth checking out if you're a fan. This is a tragically overlooked band (especially live) - 'bout time something official was released methinks.

Out Of Nowhere - Single and Cassette
Fronted by Peter Milton-Walsh (The Apartments), they released this cassette (one song - 'The Arrangements') and 7'' single ('No Resistance'/'Remember, Remember'). I have no idea if these unique releases can be found anywhere else but if you're a completist - sink your teeth into these.

The Apartments - The Return Of The Hypnotist EP
This band is based around Peter Milton-Walsh (one time Go-Between member). They are special and unique - no other way to put it. Can't imagine a world without their music (sorry if I'm laying this on too thick - but its kinda true).
Anyway, this was their first release. Hard to get and all that. Once you've finished with this - try all their albums plus the releases from his other band, Out Of Nowhere.

Panel Of Judges - Self Titled EP
First releases are often the best, this is no exception. All their other stuff is pretty good but pales in comparison to this gem. Almost sounds like the Velvets have reunited.

The Motivaters - After The Fall EP
Now that your appetite has been whetted with their album - try the EP! Since they formed from the ashes of The Ferrets, maybe it's time to blog a Billy Miller release when he formed The Spaniards. This band essentially appeared alongside the Motivaters and also specialised in some wired tunes.
Give me a bit of time for that one.

The Motivaters - Self Titled
Been dying to blog this very rare and nigh on impossible to find 1980 LP. So ... here it finally is. They were one of the
bands to emerge from the ashes of The Ferrets (Aussie band with the hit
'Don't Fall In Love") featuring Rick Brewer and Rick Petropolis (Billy Miller formed The Spaniards).
The album was released to almost zero response - unbelievable. This neglected gem is well worth your time. Check out the first track 'New Blood' - talk about a killer intro. It's rare, but is also darn good (that can be an unusual combination).

They also released two other singles in 1980 with tracks all from this LP: "New Blood" and "Summer".
